Pink Collar Workers was started when I worked for a trade union. The Services Union, as it was known back then, centred around white collar council workers, the energy sector, rail, and the community sector. With knowledge that union bosses, known as the Secretary and the Assistant Secretary, are renowned for being paranoid players, not all, but many, met with an unmet need, I set up this site under a pen name, or two, and started to write in my free time.
It was to protect my career as a union official.
I was right.
I am now a whistleblower who uncovered corruption at my former employer, the Health Services Union (NSW/ACT/QLD), as well as various other trade unions, associations within the employment context, and in industrial relations. This is my journey as a writer and as a person who found strength in my mentors, writers, journalists, and, eventually, as the public owner of a platform that has been floating around since 2013. It’s time for my material to be seen. It is time for Australian workers to be seen. It is time for every employer to listen, including the Australian governments, state and federal. History Repeating is old. The Woman Who Took Down The Trade Unions & Won is a long-term project I have been working on, as I had interviews and conversations with many workers, most injured but all disheartened by the state of affairs.
